Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (A.S.I.S.T.)

Organization(s): Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (VDCJS)

May 20, 2019May 21, 2019

Just as "CPR" skills make physical first aid possible, A.S.I.S.T. teaches the skills used in suicide prevention first aid. A.S.I.S.T. is the most widely used intervention skills training in the U.S. It is a two-day, intensive, interactive, and practice-dominated course designed to help caregivers recognize risk for suicide, intervene to prevent immediate harm, and link persons at risk to the next level of care.

Target Audience: Used by a variety of front line personnel, caregivers, and people in positions of trust, A.S.I.S.T. is suitable for campus law enforcement, school resource officers and other law enforcement, campus and school security officers, campus and school administrators, counselors, teachers, and staff.
