Beyond Lockdown: Stop the Bleed for Educators

Organization(s): Campus Safety

Feb 21, 2019
2:00pm – 3:00pm (1 hour)
Time Zone: Eastern

Did you know you are more likely to be exposed to a situation involving severe bleeding than an emergency requiring you to administer CPR? We live in a different world today where active shooters, terrorists, unstable people, and dangerous individuals are emboldened to cause harm to others. However, in many situations, death from blood loss can be preventable if citizens are prepared and equipped to act quickly and efficiently. Many schools and universities around the country have Stop the Bleed kits, but most staff members on campus have never been trained on stopping bleeds and some may not even know what materials are in the kits. Everyone needs to learn Stop the Bleed by learning how to recognize life-threatening blood loss, how to stop it, and how to get victims the emergency medical help they need quickly.
