The HECAOD learning collaboratives are a series of web-based trainings focusing on a specific topic. Through the Cannabis Learning Collaborative Update, participants will learn from national experts as they answer questions about changes in cannabis use, policy considerations, and prevention and intervention strategies. The 2019 update includes institutional access to four live webinars and their recordings, as well as access to the previously recorded Cannabis Learning Collaborative, an 8-part series exploring the issues of cannabis prevention, intervention, and recovery. This webinar will discuss CBD, a chemical found in all strains of Cannabis plants. Recently, there has been a great deal of excitement about its potential as a therapeutic medicine. However, due to various legal contradictions both within and between state and federal laws, its status is confusing. Many campuses are struggling with what to do about CBD and have questions ranging from appropriate student sanctions for possession and its impact on DFSCA compliance, to whether or not a campus can sell it in its bookstore. This session will explore the chemical, the confusion regarding its legal status, and reasonable concerns we have regarding its presence on campus.
