H.O.P.E.: Suicide Prevention for Crime Victim Advocates
Organization(s): Education Development Center (EDC), and Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)
May 21, 2019 — May 22, 2019
The H.O.P.E. training curriculum was developed with input from the nation's leading experts in suicide prevention and it uses best practices in skills-building training methods. It is designed to teach crime victim advocates effective strategies to address suicidal thoughts and behaviors among crime victims. Using a train-the-trainer model, EDC will prepare workshop participants to conduct their own H.O.P.E. training workshops by teaching the curriculum, practicing learning activities, and learning tips on how to deliver the one-day H.O.P.E. training to crime victim advocates in their local organizations and communities. Trainers from EDC's Violence and Trauma team will facilitate each regional H.O.P.E. train-the-trainer training. Participants will first be led through the registration process and you will then be offered the option to apply for travel scholarship funding, if needed. There is no cost to attend and participate in the train-the-trainer. The scholarship funding is to provide travel assistance for those who meet the scholarship requirements.
