Experts on disaster response, emergency preparedness, and disaster healthcare will gather in St. Maarten for an international conference to share information and experiences to help prepare the Caribbean region to manage hurricanes and other natural disasters. This event will also launch the Caribbean Center for Disaster Medicine (CCDM), a regional center of excellence to foster education, research, and training on disaster preparedness and response. The CCDM is a collaboration between the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and our government and community partners in St. Maarten and the Caribbean region.
Target Audience: Physicians, nurses, allied health professionals; veterinarians and animal emergency teams; healthcare system and hospital leaders; emergency management agency personnel; medical educators; public health professionals; emergency preparedness trainers; climate and weather experts; government and NGO personnel; disaster relief organizations; and disaster researchers.
