K-12 Threat Assessment: One Day Course

Organization(s): Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (VDCJS)

Jan 23, 2019
8:00am – 4:00pm (8 hours)

In response to HB2344: Threat Assessment Teams, which requires each public School Board to establish threat assessment teams similar to those required for Virginia's public institutions of higher education, the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is offering a series of one-day threat assessment trainings across the state. The goal of the trainings is to provide guidance and training to schools and divisions without threat assessment teams and processes in place as well as those who have teams and protocols in place but have additional staff members who need to be trained. While many school divisions have voluntarily implemented threat assessment protocols HB 2344 now mandates public school divisions to establish a threat assessment team(s) and collect and report threat assessment data.

Target Audience: This training is being offered to K-12 threat assessment team members.
