L0363 Multi-Hazard Emergency Management for Higher Education

Organization(s): Woodford County Emergency Management and Kentucky Community & Technical College System

Jun 18, 2019Jun 20, 2019

This course provides institutions of higher education (IHEs) with knowledge and planning strategies to better protect lives, property, and operations more effectively and efficiently within the context of comprehensive emergency management. Highly interactive presentations and class exercises coupled with numerous individual and small-group practice activities will help ensure that participants develop a high level of mastery in the class, and will facilitate the transfer of the relevant skills and knowledge. By the end of this training, participants should be able to define comprehensive emergency management; recognize the importance of an emergency planning as it relates to the unique needs of an IHE and the functional capacities of an emergency management planning team; identify hazards that present risks for IHEs and the impacts of those hazards; identify the process and benefits of conducting a risk assessment; create a partnership with internal and external stakeholders; identify and assemble a planning team; develop or revise a multi-hazard Emergency Operations Plan (EOP); and develop and implement a strategy for training and testing an EOP.
