2:00pm – 3:00pm (1 hour)
Time Zone: Eastern

In this webinar, Stephen Lopez, chief of the New Mexico State University Police Department, will discuss how K12 teachers, coaches, and administrators can plan for safety during extracurricular activities. While most schools have focused significant effort and resources on planning for emergencies during the normal school day, many still have work to do in order to handle incidents that might arise during activities outside of the normal school day, such as at an athletic event, orchestra concert, after school practice, travel to an out-of-town event, etc. The discussion will include differences and similarities between normal school safety plans and extracurricular safety plans, common emergencies that can impact extracurricular activities, and how and when to engage students in the safety planning and implementation process.
