Organization(s): Police Foundation

Jan 23, 2019
1:00pm – 2:00pm (1 hour)
Time Zone: Eastern

A former television news journalist turned media relations director for two large Washington, DC area police departments shares her tips for how to get your civilian PIO up and running in a law enforcement world. Julie Parker shares her experience regarding breaking into a culture that can be, ahem, somewhat averse to change. She'll detail how hiring civilian PIOs can jumpstart positive press for an agency from the moment the PIO is hired. She'll also outline how chiefs and commanders can best support their new media hires.

Target Audience: This webinar is intended for command staff to police chiefs or whomever is in charge of hiring a public information officer or will benefit from that important hire.
